Balance Your Immune System Naturally

Suggested Use and Cautions

Suggested Use

Quantity:

One capsule per day is normally adequate to avoid colds, flu and most allergies. People with more serious conditions (or severe allergies) may want to initially double the dose for two weeks, taking one in the morning and one at night. You can confidentially take 2 or more per day if you are treating a particular problem or are fighting a cold or flu.

The body can tolerate high dosages of beta-sitosterol and in one study on cholesterol, participants were given 3 grams per day. The side effects of these high doses were occasional mild constipation, diarrhea or flatulence, and were comparable in frequency to the placebo.

If using to lower cholesterol: take 1 pill 15 minutes before each meal.

Importance of Fat:

Fat prevents absorption – take this supplement with water (NOT MILK), on an empty stomach, at least 45 minutes before eating, or at least two hours after eating.

The capsule dissolves in the system after approximately 7 minutes, and enters the top third of the small intestine after approximately 30 minutes. The response peaks after approximately 6 hours and slowly declines over approximately the next 36 hours.

Daily intake is important to maintain the body’s pool of beta-sitosterol.

Research by Karl Pegel (1), University of Natal Republic of South Africa, reports that a good quality diet should provide 200-300 mg of plant sterols per day. However, analysis of the modern diet shows that this healthy and necessary amount of plant sterols is not being provided. In addition our high fat diets tend to reduce the absorption of these beneficial plant constituents. Based on the far reaching benefits of plant sterols, scientists have concluded that supplementation is necessary to achieve the recommended daily intake.

Indications:

Allergies:

For functional relief of symptoms associated with allergic response.

Phytosterols suppress the release of Interleukin 4 (IL-4) so histamine is not released and allergy symptoms are controlled. Also, Interleukin 6 (IL-6) is normalized acting to protect lung tissue from further dysfunction.(2)

Fibromyalgia/Chronic Fatigue:

The production of IL-6, that causes inflammation and pain, may be inhibited with the use of phytosterols. Research shows that Enzogenol also reduces the free radicals that can contribute to the development of FM/CFS. (4)(5)

Immune System:

Phytosterols can modulate an over producing and over performing immune system. This balancing effect may enhance the ability of the T-lymphocytes to release the factors that ultimately regulate cellular functions in the body. Studies have shown the potential to increase T cell proliferation on average by 58%. Increases in CD-4 lymphocyte counts have also been reported by some patients. (10)

Prostate:

Urologists in Germany have been using phytosterols for over 20 years in the treatment of enlarged prostate conditions. In a recent United Kingdom study, with over 100 participants, 90% showed an average improvement in their prostate scores of 44% over a twelve- week period. (6)

Cholesterol:

Changes in diet and exercise are important in lowering high cholesterol. However consumption of Sterol 117, fifteen minutes prior to a meal may help block the intestinal absorption of cholesterol. It may also encourage an increase in HDL levels. (7)(8)
